Author, composer, director and singer, Corneille, whose real name is Cornelius Nyungura, was born in Germany to a Tutsi father and a Hutu mother. He was 7 when his family returned to live in Rwanda. As a teenager, he began his musical career in Kigali, learned songwriting and composition, and founded an R&B group. His music-loving father gave him his first studio recording session he then proceeded to win the "Discovery 1993" contest of Rwandan television. The following year was marked by the unspeakable. O n April 15, 1994, while Rwanda was struck by the genocide of the Tutsi, Corneille's family was assassinated in front of his eyes. Being the sole survivor, he joined a refugee camp in Zaire, before being taken in by his parents’ friends in Germany. With nearly 2 million records sold, two NRJ awards, three Felix (male performer, artist who illustrated himself, clip), five Socan awards, one Césaire award, five SOBA, and one Montfort award, Corneille comes back to us with a new album "Love & Soul".Over the years Corneille gained international fame, recorded six albums, wrote his aut obiography, married and had two children. But deep down inside, he was still this music madman wh o believed that a melody could change the world and soften the soul. A soul music lover, forever.
